Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia Hayk Grigoryan today convened a consultation devoted to the bill on making supplements to the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia developed by the Investigative Committee, particularly the peculiarities of criminal proceedings instituted during the legal regime of martial law, as reported the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

The existing legislation provides for special events and temporary restrictions during the whole period of martial law in case martial law is declared, but the possible peculiarities related to criminal proceedings during the legal regime of martial law are in no way regulated by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.

During the consultation, importance was attached to the need for such legal regulations since the existing criminal procedure institutions and regulations can’t be fully applied in regard to the proceedings being implemented during martial law.

The modernity, goals and key objectives of the proposed supplements were thoroughly presented during the discussion.

The proposed provisions of the bill concern the procedure for proceedings during martial law, the peculiarities of detention and the peculiarities of implementation of certain investigative actions.

Based on the results of the consultation, taking into consideration the recommendations made, the chairman of the Investigative Committee assigned to revise the bill and submit it to interested bodies for consideration.
