Artsakh Security Council Secretary Samvel Babayan made a statement on the adoption of a new security strategy by Armenia.
According to him, at the meeting of the Security Council of Armenia on July 10, a new strategy of national security of Armenia was adopted. A document that reflects the challenges and threats to the security of the Armenians, principles and ways of overcoming them.
In this document, Artsakh is considered a key component of the pan-Armenian agenda separately under the heading “ensuring the security of Artsakh”, which is not accidentally combined with the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Armenia, he noted.
"With this document Armenia confirms its guarantee of the security of Artsakh, emphasizing in this context the following:
- Remaining loyal to the mediation mission of the OSCE Minsk Group, we continue to act from the position of the principle of compromise and a peaceful settlement of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict.
- The principle of the right of nations to self-determination, enshrined in UN declarations, international agreements on human rights, will underlie the peaceful settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict as the exclusive right of the Armenians of Artsakh to decide their fate.
- Artsakh will be transformed from an object of conflict into a subject, returning to the negotiating table, thereby realizing the subjectivity of the authorities elected by the people of Artsakh.
There is no alternative to the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh.
Artsakh's security cannot be auctioned," he noted.
