The Afghan authorities have released 4,600 of 5,000 Taliban prisoners, the 1 TV News channel reported referring to the statement of the second vice-president of Afghanistan, Muhammad Sarwar Danish.

According to the TV channel, the radical Taliban, in turn, intends to release 1,002 Afghan prisoners by the evening of July 30, freeing another 79 people.

The Taliban demand from the Afghan authorities to release five thousand prisoners based on the agreement with the US, while they insist that this happen in the near future to pave the way for the start of intra-Afghan talks, Gazeta reported.

At the end of February, the US and the radical Afghan Taliban movement signed a peace deal for the first time in more than 18 years of war.

According to the agreements, American troops are to leave Afghanistan 14 months after the deal is concluded. At present, NATO soldiers have already left five bases located on Afghan territory.
