The World Health Organization (WHO) welcomes all the advances in research and development of a vaccine against the COVID-19 infection, RBC obtained a statement of the organization.

The statement has been published as the WHO commented on the registration in Russia of the first COVID-19 vaccine, as announced by President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

The organization noted that vaccine research should be conducted in accordance with established procedures at every stage of development to ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs that go into production.

The WHO added that they are in contact with Russian scientists and the country's authorities and are waiting for the opportunity to analyze information on vaccine trials.
