President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Arayik Haroutyunyan yesterday visited land plots in Askeran region and discussed the opportunities for irrigation on the spot, as reported the Central Information Department of the Office of the President of Artsakh.
The head of state stated that the creation of a sustainable irrigation system is important for having developed agriculture and guaranteed harvest and that the government is gearing funds towards achievement of this goal. Touring the fields belonging to the residents of the Nakhijevanik, Vardadzor and Ughtasar villages, the President gave several assignments to build a new water pipeline and build catchment basins in upland areas for gravity irrigation.
During the visit, the head of state also visited Askeran town where he was introduced to the construction of apartment buildings being built in the center of the region and assigned to work on building new apartment buildings.
Afterwards, Haroutyunyan summed up the results of his visit and touched upon the provision of drinking water for Askeran town and Khanapat village during a working consultation.
