US actions against Huawei are purely hegemonic behavior that violates the principles of international trade and fair competition, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Tuesday.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the expansion of sanctions on Huawei. The US Commerce Department on Monday added 38 more Huawei subsidiaries to the blacklist. Besides, the agency has expanded the scope of the amendments, according to which foreign companies using US equipment to make chips must obtain a license in the US before supplying certain chips to Huawei, RIA Novosti reported.

According to Zhao Lijian, China strongly opposes the vilification and pressure on Huawei and other Chinese companies.

The increasing US pressure on Huawei and other Chinese companies only testifies to the success of these companies, he added.
