The Russian major general was killed in Syria after a convoy was blown up, RIA Novosti reported referring to the defense ministry.
Two more servicemen from Russia were injured. The incident occurred on the sidelines when the convoy was returning after a humanitarian action near Deir ez-Zor. An improvised explosive device went off.
