The Central Electoral Commission today dismissed administrative proceedings instituted based on the application filed by members of the Council of Elders of Yeghegnut village of Armavir Province of Armenia Razmik Abrahamyan, Martun Mkrtchyan and Anton Khurshudyan on July 27, 2020. This is what Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan declared after the special session of the Commission.

“Through inquiries, the Central Electoral Commission clarified that as of August 20, 2020, Precinct Electoral Commission #15 has not carried out activities to organize and hold a local referendum.

The Central Electoral Commission can provide functional assistance only if a local referendum is designated in the manner prescribed by law and the decision on designating a local referendum and the documents certifying financial actions required for preparing for and holding a local referendum have been submitted by the head of the village to the relevant precinct electoral commission and the latter carries out activities to organize and hold the local referendum.

Due to the absence of these conditions, it is clear that the applicants’ request can’t be fulfilled,” Mukuchyan said.

The applicants can appeal the Commission’s decision to the Administrative Court in the course of three calendar days.
