The employees of the maternity hospital of Maralik, Armenia, have not received their salaries for seven months, and at the moment they are protesting.

They note that even though the Ministry of Health did not liquidate the maternity hospital, it does not provide funding either.

"The state provides 140,000 drams for the birth of every child, which [the money] is not transferred to the medical institution. In addition, the men are sitting at home, unable to go to work abroad. And the Prime Minister [Nikol Pashinyan] should deal with that issue, but he is sitting in his place, is not interested in Maralik. Why does he not come to Maralik, the neighboring villages? The Maralik maternity hospital serving 17 villages is artificially idle, it is not funded, and people [here] are forced to go to other medical institutions," they say.
