Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan today met with Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, army general Sergey Shoygu in Moscow, as reported the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

The situation regarding regional security and the countries’ military cooperation were discussed during the meeting.

The Armenian defense minister informed his Russian counterpart about the military-political situation created in the region following the military operations in July, as well as the operative situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and the line of contact of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan forces.

Tonoyan emphasized that the aggressive rhetoric of certain states and their military actions are aimed at destabilizing and militarizing the situation in the region.

In his turn, Shoygu attached importance to the implementation of actions aimed at strengthening stability by all states.

Underscoring the fact that the relations between Armenia and Russia are allied and strategic, the ministers discussed and reached agreements on future actions for military cooperation.

Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan is in Moscow within the scope of International Army Games 2020.
