A brutal crime committed by children is being investigated in Ufa, Russia, the interior ministry of the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan reported.

The incident took place on August 22. An 8-year-old girl had not returned home after an evening walk, and her mother turned to law enforcement, MK reported.

Shortly afterwards, the police found the body of the girl who was strangled to death.

It turned out that the child had died while playing with her peers. The latter had pressed her carotid arteries hard, then, fearing the consequences, thrown her body into a river.

A 13-year-old boy has been apprehended in connection with the crime.
