The United States government, through the Department of State and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has provided an additional $1,436,000 to Armenia to combat COVID-19.

In total, the US government has provided about $4 million in emergency assistance to Armenia in 2020.

With this new $1mn assistance, the USAID will help the agricultural and tourism sectors of Armenia recover economically from the coronavirus pandemic and adapt their needs to the realities of the post-coronavirus world.

The additional $436,000 provided by the US State Department will be allocated to meet the needs of vulnerable migrants who are unable to return to their places of permanent residence due to COVID-19. Thanks to this assistance, they will have housing, food, as well as the opportunity to make use of medical and social services.

In addition to the aforesaid assistance provided in the fight against COVID-19, the US has invested more than $1.57 billion in Armenia over the past 20 years, and about $106 million of which are in health care.
