Head of the opposition Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Edmon Marukyan today posted the following on his Facebook page:
“There is no logic behind the mandatory requirement for citizens of Armenia to get tested for the coronavirus to visit Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
Several citizens of Armenia and their families want to travel to Artsakh and spend their summer vacation, but they avoid the inconveniences of getting tested for the coronavirus, especially for their children, and aren’t able to visit Artsakh, even though they really want to.
As a result, the tourism sector of Artsakh suffers, and this has a negative impact on the overall economic situation in Artsakh.
I’m not talking about visits to servicemen (the ban on visits is in effect).
Thus, I recommend annulling the mandatory requirement for citizens of Armenia to get tested for COVID-19 to visit Artsakh.”
