The Lebanese military, together with their French colleagues, have found 79 containers with a chemical poisonous substance in the port of Beirut, RIA Novosti reported referring to the Lebanese army.

Twenty-five containers of hydrochloric acid were found on August 14-22, including 54 containers with other substances, the leakage of which would have been catastrophic, the statement said.

A huge blast rocked Beirut on August 4 and according to authorities, the cause was the detonation of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate seized by customs in 2014 and stored in a warehouse.

The death toll has exceeded 170. The capital of Lebanon was recognized as a disaster area.
