The US plans to build intermediate and shorter-range missiles, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said during the national congress of the Republican Party.

The Secretary of State noted that thanks to US President Donald Trump, NATO has become stronger, and Ukraine has defensive weapons system, TASS reported.

According to Pompeo, America left the INF treaty so that their country could build missiles.

Washington announced its unilateral withdrawal from the INF treaty back in February, accusing Moscow of violating the rules of the Treaty. Russia denied all charges, and in early July last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on Russia's suspension of the INF Treaty.
