Armenia is leading negotiations with YouTube, but in this stage, the content of those negotiations can’t be made public due to notions of ethics. Hakob Arshakyan, the Minister of High Technological Industry of Armenia, stated about this Wednesday while presenting the activity report on the high-tech industry of the country.

The reason for the minister’s statement was reporters’ comment on the fact that many Armenian bloggers don’t have the opportunity to earn money on YouTube if they register in Armenia. Media representatives also stated the fact that there is no such problem in Armenia’s neighboring countries such as Georgia and Azerbaijan. In regard to this, the reporters asked if the Ministry of High Technological Industry is leading negotiations with YouTube to solve this problem.

In response, the minister stated the following: “We’re leading negotiations and working in several directions. I hope Armenia manages to achieve some results by the end of this year and is able to provide information about the results. I wouldn’t like to make any public statement so long as there are no results,” Arshakyan said.
