During his first joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov accused Armenia of ‘violations’ and ‘crimes’.

The minister assured that Azerbaijan hopes Russia helps settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and talked about ‘the occupation of 20% of the territories of Azerbaijan’, ‘the exile of the Azerbaijani population’, etc. Obviously, Bayramov didn’t mention anything about the Armenian massacres in Azerbaijan, the seizure of Armenian territories and the hundreds of thousands of Armenian refugees.

Bayramov accused Armenia of populating ‘the occupied territories’ with Armenians from the Middle East which, according to him, is a violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. He also accused Armenia of escalating the situation in the Tavush Province of Armenia in July of this year and presented the capture of Armenian officer Gurgen Alaverdyan as ‘elimination of a sabotage group’. However, he failed to see that the Azerbaijani authorities are violating international humanitarian law and Geneva Conventions with their actions against Alaverdyan and previously captured Armenians.
