Berlin authorities have banned an upcoming demonstration against COVID-19 restrictions.
The number of participants announced by the organizers will not allow them to comply with the current regulations of the authorities, according to a statement, DW reported.
Previous similar actions showed that their participants deliberately did not comply with the established measures to counter the spread of infection, the document says.
The authorities had a choice between the right to freedom of assembly and the right to life and physical integrity, explained Berlin Senator for Internal Affairs Andreas Geisel. This decision was made not against freedom of assembly, but in support of protection from infection, he noted.
