The foreign ministers of the European Union countries will discuss increasing pressure on the Belarusian president Aleksandr Lukashenko, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Thursday live on the ZDF TV channel.
According to him, they see that Lukashenko is increasing pressure on peaceful demonstrators and the opposition and they must discuss today how they can increase the pressure on Belarus' leader.
He recalled that they have already made a decision to impose sanctions on those who participated in electoral fraud and crimes against peaceful demonstrators and so far, nothing has changed.
As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the beginning of the week, the EU can become a mediator in resolving the situation in Belarus, the relevant statements were made during his meeting with Heiko Maas.
