YEREVAN. – The news about the resignation is political speculations that have been going on for two years already. Armenia’s minister of health Arsen Torosyan told about this to RFE/RL Armenian Service on Thursday.

"I do not even remember the last time I met with the prime minister. I recall that there have been such publications for two years already, and therefore I do not see any sense in finding reasons for that news," the minister said.

When asked how the PM assesses the work of the health ministry during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the minister said: "(…). The fight against the coronavirus is not only the job of the Ministry of Health, but of the Republic of Armenia [(RA)]. (…). The percentage of RA citizens infected with the coronavirus and, unfortunately, died shows that the healthcare system [of the country] has done more than it could. ”

To the reporter’s remark that the numbers of the pandemic have decreased but the disease has not been defeated yet, and to the question why he is going on vacation at this time, Torosyan responded: "I believe it is not my constitutional right, but my family's, and no one can violate that right. I will be in RA, always available [during my vacation], I will probably also go to work some days."
