President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, captured in a military coup in Mali, has been released, Jeune Afrique reported, citing the president's family, Reuters reported.

The military released Boubacar Keita on Thursday night. He was later taken to his residence in Sebenikoro, which is guarded by the rebels.

The coup in Mali took place a few days ago, when the military, who supported the opposition, raised their units near the capital of Bamako.
