Hong Kong police have seized the largest consignment of drugs this year, with a total weight of 178 kg, including 82 kg of heroin, TASS reported referring to The Standard.

The drugs - which also included methamphetamine and ketamine - were found in sealed boxes in a warehouse on the mainland. They were packaged in several hundred fruit juice bottles. The total black market value of the illegal product is estimated at $ 22 million.

In this case, two suspects have been detained - immigrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Investigators are inclined to believe that the cargo was not intended for the Hong Kong market, but was supposed to transit through this special administrative region of China to a third country. Law enforcement officers are trying to reach senders and recipients.

According to the police, amid the coronavirus pandemic, there has been an increase in drug prices, and international syndicates increasingly began to transport them in large consignments, hiding among legal goods.
