A new criminal case has been launched against former First Deputy Head of the State Protection Service of the National Security Service of Armenia Vachagan Ghazaryan under the elements of Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (embezzlement or squander), as reported Spokesperson of the Special Investigation Service Marina Ohanjanyan.

Vachagan Ghazaryan is also the former chief bodyguard of third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

In February 2020, the Special Investigation Service dismissed the general criminal case launched against Vachagan Ghazaryan and his wife, Ruzanna Beglaryan which was related to tax evasion and illicit enrichment.
