President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili has declared that the elections of the Parliament and Supreme Council will be held on October 31, Sputnik-Georgia reports.

Zourabichvili stated that these elections are of special significance for Georgia and will help establish democracy in the country once again.

This time, the parliamentary elections will be held through a new system (120 deputies will be elected through the proportional system, and 30 deputies — through the majoritarian system).

There are 59 non-parliamentary parties that have registered to run in the elections.

“Today, when Georgia has overcome the pandemic and this difficult period, it is very important to get ready for the elections at ease,” the Georgian president said.
