A reservoir of 30 tons of wine exploded at the Armavir village branch Proshyan Brandy Factory, attached to which there were eleven 30-ton and twenty 8-ton reservoirs. Hovhannes Margaryan, head of the Armavir provincial rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia, said this in a conversation with journalists Tuesday.

Margaryan noted that the adjacent building was an alcohol production unit where there was stored alcohol as well as wines, next to which was a cannery, but the spread of the fire and further explosions were prevented.

He stated that two dead bodies were retrieved during the firefighting, and the four injured were taken to Armavir Medical Center, after which—to the Yerevan center for burns.

The MES official said that at present the situation was under control.

But Hovhannes Margaryan added at the moment they could not say for sure what the cause of this fire was as a respective investigation is underway, and only after which the results will be clear.
