As a result of the spread of misinformation, 21 citizens of Armenia (according to the list provided by the citizens) are stuck near the Upper Lars checkpoint in Chmi village (North Ossetia-ed.) in 12 cars, as attaché of Armenia at Upper Lars checkpoint Aram Tananyan reported to Armenian News-NEWS.am today.

“I have contacted the Ambassador and the Consulate General in Rostov-na-Don, and the representatives have expressed willingness to help book the air tickets. A list was prepared for the citizens. We can organize the overland transportation of cars and people’s items. As far as the possibility of solving the issue diplomatically is concerned, this is linked to Georgia’s domestic laws,” he added.

“There is a closed hotel, a petrol station, a small store and small public food outlet in the village in which the citizens are located. I was able to talk to the citizens, including women and children. Most of them say they have decided to return to Armenia since they can’t work in Russia and pay their apartment rents, some have expired documents, and most of them can’t buy air tickets due to lack of funding. Taking into consideration the fact that misinformation is being spread on social networks according to which the Upper Lars checkpoint is open for citizens to move, the number of citizens might grow,” the customs attaché said and urged all citizens receiving this information to not give in to provocations and not come to the border.
