As of 11am on Tuesday, four new cases of alcohol poisoning—one of which resulted in death—were registered in Armavir Province and in Yerevan. Alina Nikoghosyan, spokesperson for the Minister of Health of Armenia, wrote about this on her Facebook page.

"Another victim, who was admitted to [medical] university hospital No. 1 [in Yerevan], died on September 1.

The total number of cases between August 31 and September 2 has reached 27, 14 of which resulted in death.

20 out of 27 cases (9 of which were fatal) were registered in Armavir Province. Of the remaining 11 cases in Armavir Province, 9 are receiving treatment at Armenia RMC [Republican Medical Center in Yerevan], and 2 have been discharged after a medical examination. All of them used non-factory vodka obtained from the same place.

7 out of 27 cases registered in the republic were registered in Yerevan. As a result of an epidemiological examination, it has been found out that these cases have nothing to do with the cases in Armavir. 5 of them are fatal, 1 is receiving treatment at university hospital No. 1, 1—at Armenia RMC. Some of the victims used medical alcohol as a vodka substitute. Epidemiological research is in progress to determine the type of alcohol used by the rest," Nikoghosyan added.
