YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia considers the controversial statement Zareh Sinanyan, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, as a personal opinion. Anna Naghdalyan, spokesperson for the MFA, stated about this at a press conference on Wednesday.

Recently, Sinanyan had stated that the Japanese were a synthesis of the Chinese and the Koreans. Tokyo, however, has ignored this statement.

Asked whether Sinanyan was called to the MFA after this statement, Naghdalyan recalled that the diaspora commissioner and the FM are both members of the Armenian government and such an action would not be correct.

And to the question whether the FM and the commissioner had talked about this matter, Naghdalyan responded that there was virtually a daily communication between them, but she did not know whether this matter was discussed.
