Georgia isn’t going to open its borders until the nationwide elections end on October 31. This is what Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan told Armenian citizens protesting with the demand to leave for Russia in front of the National Assembly today.

According to him, if Georgia receives a tourist or lets a person travel to Russia through its territory, it will face problems because that person will have to go to the restroom, eat and interact with others during that period.

As far as travel to Russia by air is concerned, Simonyan said the following to the protesters: “In regard to travel by air, the Russian government says it can’t receive people from Armenia since there is an epidemic in Russia. You can travel to other countries that receive tourists. Don’t believe people who say the issue will be solved soon. Armenia is negotiating with Russia every day and trying to restore flights not only for you, but also for others to come and do business. Hotels are empty. The Russians and Georgians aren’t letting anyone enter their countries.”
