YEREVAN. – If the state of emergency is lifted in Armenia, the e-surveillance system being used for locating people, as well as the restrictions to economic activity, will no longer be used. Deputy minister of justice Rafik Grigoryan stated this at Friday’s special session of the National Assembly (NA) during which the package of bills on making amendments and addenda to the law on ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological safety of the population and to the related laws are being debated on.

The official also noted that this legislative package allows continuing the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Armenia, but at the same time lifting the respective state of emergency in the country.

If these changes are adopted, the current state of emergency will no longer be extended after September 11.

According to this package of bills, in case of infectious diseases’ importation and penetration into Armenia, as well as in case of a risk of emergency for the country, quarantine can be at the proposal of the mayor of Yerevan, provincial governors and local self-government bodies or the agency authorized in health care—and at the proposal of the government.
