A new Scientific-Methodical Council adjunct to the Prosecutor General of Armenia has been set up upon the order of the latter.
The Council has the status of an advisory body adjunct to the Prosecutor General and its aim is to show scientific-methodical support to the subdivisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office while performing their functions, as well as collaborate with higher education institutions and academic centers operating in Armenia and similar councils of foreign law-enforcement bodies.
The noticeable intensification of activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the protection of state interests over the past years and the process of civil forfeiture of illegal assets entail innovative approaches in the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the need to introduce directions and use broader scientific potential for that purpose.
The main objectives of the Scientific-Methodical Council are to develop scientifically substantiated advisory materials in regard to disputed issues in law-enforcement practice in areas of prosecutorial activities, submit recommendations on the directions and methods for the fight against crime and analyze the developments of case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
