Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan today attended the joint session of the defense ministers of CIS countries and member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Moscow.
In his opening remarks, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoygu stated that this is the first meeting in such a format and expressed confidence that international military cooperation will become further intensified after this session and the results will help deepen the cooperation of the defense ministries.
Tonoyan delivered a brief speech devoted to global and regional security, prevention of the threat of incitement of wars and armed clashes, as well as consolidation of the efforts targeted at further strengthening of military cooperation in the current conditions.
Several documents within the scope of the CIS and CSTO were signed during the session. Specialists of the Ministry of Defense of Russia provided the defense ministers with details about the development and testing of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19 which is the first COVID-19 vaccine in the world.
The participants of the session also visited the main cathedral of the Armed Forces of Russia and the “Road of Memory” museum complex located in the vicinity of Moscow. Tonoyan found data about his grandfather, veteran of the Great Patriotic War Hovhannes Hakobov through the interactive search engine at the “Road of Memory” museum complex.
The “Road of Memory” museum complex was established to eternalize the memory of Soviet soldiers who participated in the Great Patriotic War, and there are 33,000,000 notes and photos to date.
