The heads of 20 UK airports have written a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson to warn that the UK economy will face irreversible damage if the authorities do not replace the mandatory quarantine upon arrival in the country for testing for Covid-19 in the next few days.

Testing is proposed to be carried out by all entering the airport buildings, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The authors of the letter noted that the government has no more than seven days to change the strategy, otherwise 110 thousand workers in aviation and related industries will lose their jobs. A group of influential members of parliament is also calling on Johnson to rescue British civil aviation, the BBC reported.

Meanwhile, the UK confirmed on Sunday a record number of new COVID-19 cases since May - 2,988 cases.
