YEREAN. – The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan on Monday granted the motion by Aram Vardevanyan, the lawyer of former speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Babloyan, and therefore the latter may leave the country for some time.

The prosecution did not object to this motion.

The presiding judge said that, taking into account Babloyan's character, his connection with Armenia, as well as his position, he will allow Babloyan to leave for the mentioned place and return within the mentioned period.

According to the indictment, Ara Babloyan, as the NA speaker in 2018, had abused his official powers, which negligently caused grave consequences, and committed official fraud.

Babloyan has been charged.
