Chief of Staff of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Edgar Ghazaryan today posted the following on his Facebook page:

“Dear compatriots, friends and relatives, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia has published a guide, based on the requirements and regulations of which classes will be organized at general education schools starting from September 15, 2020. As is often the case with the incumbent authorities, there was no preliminary discussion with the main beneficiaries (teachers, psychologists, doctors, parents, etc.) Moreover, I’m not aware of any public discussions during which it would be possible to listen to the opinions of experienced people and consider the options for organizing classes in the new situation. As a result of all this, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has established a procedure that is at least strictly problematic from the perspective of applicability and may create an intolerable situation for children and teachers. Representatives of the education sector have already declared that changes need to be made in the procedure. I believe that if reasonable decisions are not made, we need to refrain from sending our children to schools starting from September 15. It is neither our nor our children’s fault that, due to circumstances, the powers to make decisions are reserved for random and clueless people. I have two children who are about to go to school, but I am not planning to send them to school on September 15. I call on expressing discontent and not sending children to school so long as reasonable decisions have not been made through public discussions.”
