Politik.am reports the following: “Yesterday, an official press release was issued according to which first President of Armenia, President of the Armenian National Congress political party Levon Ter-Petrosyan met with Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin at his mansion. The press service of the Armenian National Congress reports that issues related to the development of Armenia-Russia relations, regional security and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were discussed during the nearly two-hour meeting. Among the attendees was Vice-President of the Armenian National Congress Levon Zurabyan and third Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation Igor Ratushnyak.

The sources of the Armenian National Congress report that the meeting was held at the initiative eof Levon Ter-Petrosyan. According to the source of politik.am, Ter-Petrosyan was concerned about the fact that people are linking him to the incumbent authorities. Realizing the role of Russia, Armenia’s strategic ally, during the meeting with the Ambassador, the first President brought several facts and claimed that he has nothing to do with the incumbent authorities. Ter-Petrosyan assured that, as an experienced state official, he couldn’t have relations with a government that has led the federal relations with Russia to failure. Ter-Petrosyan said he is a pensioner and has no political interest and asked not to project his bad relations with Pashinyan on him. The meeting of Ter-Petrosyan with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation remind us that Nikol Pashinyan’s government is about to fail. Leaving partners “behind” before failure is the method of Ter-Petrosyan.

When leader of Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan was fighting against the former authorities in 2015, Ter-Petrosyan wrote a letter to then President Serzh Sargsyan at the crucial moment, met with him and left the game, leaving Prosperous Armenia Party alone. Now Ter-Petrosyan is trying to relieve himself of the stigma of Nikol Pashinyan’s government since he feels that there will be developments.”
