A total of 36,066 people were prosecuted in Turkey and 12,298 of them, including 318 minors, were brought to trial in 2019 for insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Birgun reported.

A total of 3,831 people were convicted of insulting the president last year.

And 340 people were put on trial for insulting the president during the reign of former President Kenan Evren.
