China will not need mass vaccinations against Covid-19, and authorities will prioritize frontline workers and high-risk populations, the China News Service reported referring to George F. Gao, the head of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Since the first wave of Covid-19 hit Wuhan, China has experienced several outbreaks of Covid-19, he said.

He described these short-term outbreaks as evidence of China's effective containment measures. The facts have proven that we have several magic weapons to fight the pandemic, he added.

In the event of a potential vaccine, he said, priority would be given to those on the front lines: medical workers, Chinese citizens working overseas in virus-spreading locations, and people working in high-risk locations such as restaurants, schools, or cleaning services.
