YEREVAN. - An Iranian citizen died in hospital after being run over in Armenia’s capital on Tuesday.

Toyota Prado hit Ardi Zarehi Avanosiani Haji Abade, 16 and her brother Arthur Zarehi Avanosiani Haji Abade, 18 on Komitas street in Yerevan.

The two were immediately taken to “Armenia” medical centre with injuries. However, the man did not come to consciousness and died. At the moment the girl is in intense care department of the hospital.

Police identified the Toyota driver as Artak Grigoryan, Senior Lieutenant at Arabkir Police Department. The latter tried to avoid responsibility, saying he was sitting in the café, when his Toyota Prado was robbed. However, the investigators and police forensic experts proved he had run over teh Iranian citizens.

The young man was a student of Armenian State Medical University and his sister is on the 11th form of Yerevan N 70 school. The investigation also revealed that the two were not crossing the street by crosswalk.

The officers of Yerevan Traffic Police arrived at the scene and transferred the vehicle to the impound lot of police. An investigation is underway, photo journalist Gagik Shamshyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
