The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has issued the following statement:

“Based on the call of President of Russia Vladimir Putin, a joint statement was adopted as a result of the consultations held by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on October 9 in Moscow. With this statement, the sides affirmed their commitment to a humanitarian ceasefire starting from 12:00 on October 10, 2020 for the exchange of prisoners of war and other detained persons and the bodies of the deceased, through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross and in accordance with the standards of the latter.

However, by violating its own commitment, Azerbaijan continued military operations in different sectors of the military front and struck the settlements in the Syunik Province of the Republic of Armenia.

The provocative actions of the Azerbaijani army are accompanied by political statements that can’t be interpreted in any other way than the failure of Azerbaijan to adhere to the ceasefire agreement.

To conceal this working style or perhaps justify it, the Azerbaijani side has disseminated misinformation, making false allegations according to which the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia are keeping settlements and the frontline under fire.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia strictly condemns the steps of Azerbaijan to fail to adhere to the ceasefire agreement that has been reached and warns that the authorities of Azerbaijan, acting under the patronage of Turkey, bear all the consequences of the created situation.”
