International recognition of Artsakh's [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] right to self-determination is the only way to ensure the right to life and physical safety of Artsakh Armenians. Ararat Mirzoyan, speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, wrote this on Facebook.

"The world must face this," he added.

On September 27, the Azerbaijani armed forces launched a large-scale attack against Artsakh, targeting the civilian population, too. On the same day, martial law was declared both in Armenia and Artsakh. A humanitarian ceasefire has come into force as of noon Saturday, but it has been violated by the Azerbaijani army.
