Head of the press service of the National Security Committee of South Ossetia Yekaterina Byazrova has commented on the current moods in Georgia with regard to the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Sputnik-South Ossetia reports.

The National Security Committee of South Ossetia is recording a dangerous growth of extremist moods in Georgia on the backdrop of the escalation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani military conflict. The Committee believes these moods can lead to further escalation of the relations between Tskhinvali and Tbilisi, if “the radical forces” win “Mikheil Saakashvili’s supporters” during the parliamentary elections to be held on October 31.

“On October 4, a protest in support of the official Baku and its military operation “to restore territorial integrity” was held in front of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tbilisi. Among the participants were representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora, students of Georgian universities, as well as Georgian political figure Gubaz Sanikidze,” Byazrova said.

The Committee stressed that Sanikidze, who is Saakashvili’s supporter, had said that “Abkhazia and Shida Qartli are the historical territories of Georgia” and called on “liberating Armenia from Russian occupation”.
