Russia’s stance is that it is necessary to end the hostilities so that people aren’t killed and that it is necessary to return to the negotiating table and lead substantive negotiations under the auspices of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group which is the current format. This is what Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin told reporters today. The Ambassador unequivocally stated that Russia has expressed its official position on this several times. “The logic of the actions that Russia has taken until now arise from this. The hostilities need to be stopped. There is no and there must be no military solution to this conflict. It is necessary to sit around the negotiating table and lead substantive negotiations,” Kopirkin stressed.

Kopirkin also informed that the deployment of peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh wasn’t discussed during his meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
