YEREVAN. – We have recorded that these are not only military operations that are led by Turkey, too, but also have several peculiarities. Opposition Prosperous Armenia faction MP Mikayel Melkumyan said this Tuesday in a talk with journalists in the National Assembly, and referring to the speeches of Armenia’s delegation at the PACE session.

"First, it was a disgraceful attack on the civilian population [of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)]; they [the Azerbaijani army] bombed the cultural monuments [of Artsakh]. For the first time I have emphasized that this is participation by Turkey, too, which has not been this obvious for 30 years. This is a total manifestation of international terrorism, there are facts. My last thought was that one of the guarantees of the security of the Armenian people living in Artsakh is the recognition of their independence," said Melkumyan.

According to him, the process of recognizing Artsakh's independence is urgent. "In the coming days, our people, the whole parliament must start the process of recognition of Artsakh, now is the right moment, there can be no more-opportune moment than this when they [the adversary] have crossed the red lines from all sides," the MP said.

Asked whether this recognition would aggravate the situation, Mikayel Melkumyan said that the situation was aggravated even now. "What else should happen? We must make every effort in the coming days for that recognition to take place," he stressed.

According to the MP, the mood of the various delegations to the PACE was against Turkey’s participation in the Artsakh war. "One may have been a little harsh, the other—diplomatic, but it was mainly harsh in connection with Turkey's participation," Mikayel Melkumyan added.
