KID UNDERGOES SURGERY

A 2-year old Armenian boy Artsvik was wounded after heavy shelling by the Azerbaijani side in the city of Martuni.

The boy has undergone a difficult, but yet successful head surgery, spokesperson for Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center wrote on his Facebook.

According to Gevorg Derdzyan, his life isn’t in danger.

"The little one’s 9-year-old sister died after the shelling," he added.

POMPEO'S CALL

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to fulfill their ceasefire commitments.

“The United States calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to implement their commitments to a ceasefire as agreed and cease targeting civilian areas, such as Ganja and Stepanakert. We deplore the loss of human life and remain committed to a peaceful settlement,” Pompeo tweeted.

OSCE CALLS

The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on Tuesday released the statement urging parties on Karabakh conflict to immediately ensure a humanitarian ceasefire.

The Co-Chairs reiterate that civilian casualties are unacceptable under any circumstances. The Co-Chairs call on the sides to implement the humanitarian ceasefire immediately to allow the return of remains, prisoners of war, and detainees and appeal to the sides to agree urgently upon a ceasefire verification mechanism.

WHO'S STATEMENT

Fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenian forces over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region has helped spread the COVID-19 in the territory, the WHO said on Tuesday.

"As we have been repeatedly saying, Covid 19 does not respect borders or lines," WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said at a press conference.

"The mobilization of troops for conflict, the displacement of populations because of it all, adds to the ability of the virus to take hold."

Armenia's newly reported cases have doubled over the past 14 days and in Azerbaijan new cases have increased by approximately 80 percent over the past week.

HOLD ACCOUNTABLE

The large-scale war unleashed by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan on September 27 continues to this day, accompanied by widespread violations of numerous norms and principles of international humanitarian law, the Artsakh Defense Army stated.

"The people of Artsakh are determined to defend the security of their homeland and their people with all their potential, and to hold the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan accountable for the war crimes committed," the statement added.
