Within the scope of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan today held a video call with World Bank Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde, as reported the Government of Armenia.

At the outset, Grigoryan presented the situation created in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone as a result of Azerbaijan’s aggression and touched upon Azerbaijan’s hostilities targeted against the peaceful population of Artsakh. Grigoryan also stressed that this war wouldn’t have been unleashed without Turkey’s complete involvement and support, emphasizing that there are facts showing that Turkey and Azerbaijan have engaged mercenaries and terrorist groups from Syria and transferred them to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. He also attached importance to the international community’s recognition of Artsakh and condemnation of the Turkish-Azerbaijani terrorist aggression.

Highlighting the fact that the World Bank has been and remains one of Armenia’s key partners, the Deputy Prime Minister attached importance to the main areas of the World Bank Country Partnership Framework, including export enablers and firm competitiveness, human capital development and equity, as well as sustainable management of environmental and natural resources.

The parties also touched upon the coronavirus situation in Armenia. Grigoryan presented the measures that the Armenian government has taken to neutralize the social-economic consequences of the coronavirus.
