Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan today met with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the explicit aggression against Artsakh and Armenia with the direct support of Turkey and with the participation of foreign terrorists from Turkey and touched upon the cases of targeting of the peaceful population and vital infrastructures through the use of banned weapons.

Grigoryan emphasized that the international community must respond to the criminal acts of Azerbaijan and Turkey, including the transfer of terrorist groups to the region and the targeting of civilians and that the existential threat facing the people of Artsakh can only be prevented through the international recognition and exercise of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination. He added that only the proper response of the international community to the criminal acts of Turkey and Azerbaijan can prevent the humanitarian disaster posing a threat to the region.

During the meeting, Grigoryan expressed gratitude to the EU Ambassador for the constructive cooperation.

The parties discussed the course of implementation of the EU’s programs in Armenia and, with satisfaction, mentioned that two new budget support programs have already been launched.

Grigoryan also stated that, in spite of the coronavirus pandemic and martial law, the Armenian government continues to keep the activities for implementation of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement in its focus.
