Chair of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia Naira Zohrabyan views the execution of Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijan as a war crime. In an interview with Armenpress, Zohrabyan said she will address international organizations with this issue.
“I was terrified when I was watching the video. I have already prepared all the materials. I will send letters and this video to the EU Commissioner for Human Rights, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the Office of the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Parliament and all political groups of the PACE. If the international community doesn’t see that this war is already stretching beyond the boundaries of the region and that this will become a more serious and global war, and if it continues to be satisfied with calls and doesn’t stop Turkey, Azerbaijan and the terrorists from Syria and Libya who are acting through more brutal methods than ISIS, the same thing will happen to other countries of the world,” Zohrabyan said.
Zohrabyan added that the execution of Armenian prisoners of war is unequivocally a war crime against humanity.
The video of the execution of allegedly Armenian prisoners of war, disseminated by Azerbaijani presses, is in the focus of the Representative of the Republic of Armenia before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), who is preparing materials based on the video in order to address the ECHR.
