YEREVAN. – It was decided to petition to Russia based on the current situation. Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stated this in a talk with journalists in the parliament of Armenia.

"The fundamental, basis agreement is the very 1997 Armenian-Russian agreement which was referred to. And the [respective] moment was decided by the fact that what is happening in connection with the military situation. I believe there had come a time when the [military] buildup or dislocation has shown that it would be right [for PM Nikol Pashinyan] to petition [to Russian President Vladimir Putin] right now because there was probably a situation that was considered a risk or a threat, including for the borders of the Republic of Armenia.

I am confident that all this has been analyzed, and the analyses of the military are of great importance in this sense," Grigoryan stressed.
