Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Masis Mayilyan posted the following on his Facebook page:
“Today I met with president and founder of One Free World International, an international human rights organization Majed el-Shafie and Member of the Parliament of Iceland Birgir Thorarinsson.
During the meeting, I presented the situation created as a result of Azerbaijan’s armed aggression against Artsakh and stated that the aggression against Artsakh has been going on since 27 through the direct involvement of Turkey and international terrorists that Turkey has sent from the Middle East to the conflict zone.
I emphasized that the current armed attack is the third aggression against Artsakh over the past 30 years that forms a part of Azerbaijan’s state policy aimed at annihilating the peaceful population of Artsakh. I also underscored the fact that Azerbaijan’s armed forces are using banned methods and resources, deliberately killing prisoners of war and captured civilians, using banned weapons, including cluster and phosphorus munitions, etc.
I also mentioned that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces also used such methods during Azerbaijan’s armed aggression during 1991-94 and in 2016. I deemed it important to stress that Azerbaijan’s coordinated and large-scale violations of the collective and individual rights of the people of Artsakh and war crimes are nothing but a crime against humanity.
In this regard, I emphasized that the best and most effective way out of this situation is international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh which, along with the collective and individual sanctions against Azerbaijan and its military-political leadership, will display the resoluteness of the international community to prohibit the perpetration of crimes against humanity.”
